Why you’ll reach for it every time
I’m a huge fan of wide leg flowy trousers, mostly because they solve the usual trade-off between comfortable and presentable. Cotton is what makes them work in warm weather, breathable in a way that most smart trousers aren’t, and the width means nothing clings on a hot day.
Paired with a cropped top or a buttoned cardigan, I’m set for more or less any occasion, which is a lot to ask of one pair of trousers. The drape is what does it: flowing fabric reads deliberate rather than casual, even when what you’re actually optimising for is being able to sit down comfortably for three hours.
